Great news, movie fans! Now you can work as an extra in a new Wil Ferrell/Woody Harrelson/Andre 3000 movie, and you don’t even have to pay them for the privilege! And look how fun they make it sound! You get food! Maybe, if you’re really really lucky, you’ll win a prize and get to catch a glimpse of some dudes you’ve already seen on TV! Did I mention you don’t even have to pay them for the hours of work you’ll be doing for them?There’s no shortage of ways to get screwed in this world.

I was an extra in a movie when I was in high school. There weren’t any real stars in the movie, but I still thought it was so cool I couldn’t believe I was getting paid instead of the other way around.
Did I mention I was in high school at the time?
And I wouldn’t think it’d be legal not to pay extras. It really is a job, too. I worked for three days, arriving around 6 and getting home around 9 or 10 at night.

Wil Ferrell, Outkast and Woody Harrelson can’t afford to spring for a bunch of extras?
Isn’t there some sort of extras union? They can’t be too happy about this.

Volunteer actor? That’s very interesting.
How about some Volunteer Politicians? One comes to mind, although he is no longer in the Senate. Of course, he was RICH, too!

Let’s see - no Screen Actors Guild here. Pay less than that of an American Samoan tuna fisherman. But it’s “volunteerism” so it’s okay. So much for the myth of “liberal” Hollywood - as long as it’s their bottom line, LOL.

It’s sad that people actually fall for this sort of thing and think the studios are doing them a favor by letting them be in their movies.
