Excellent, EXCELLENT cartoon. I’d never thought of this, and it’s disturbing. I dont’ think Sylvester Stallone’s a racist, but I think there’s something to the thought that this racial theme may have been part of the series’ appeal to most Americans. Subconsciously, White Americans are scared of losing control to the Brown masses, and Rocky, in every movie, was the Great White hope. The underdog who put the Black guy in his place.
Stallone might not have meant it that way, but I think that was part of its appeal.

Davrash, I don’t think Stallone is the one who is a racist. I think he just chose the parts because of the money. On the other hand, the people who WROTE, DIRECTED and did the casting and PRODUCED this series probably KNEW the racist idea would appeal to many Americans, and it did, right? Just look at how mainstream media is treating Obama. They pick on EVERYTHING that will appeal to the racism and white fears of people of color. From middle name to his pastor. They’ll pick ANYTHING. Appealing to people’s fears also sells papers, is financially beneficial to advertisers on TV, etc. It’s all about how to make the most money. That’s why I love the Candorville series. It’s not afraid to expose the “big money maker” organizations, and the other ills of society.

Also, on another note… WHAT PURE ARTISTIC DISPLAY! The colors, the free expression of movement!!!! Wow.
