Ken, why isn't there an outpouring of ALL AMERICANS no matter WHAT the political affiliation CALLING FOR IMMEDIATE withdrawal of our soldiers? Recently the ELECTED head of Iraq, according to the ABC website, has called for a holy war and said it is OK to kill American soldiers in the name of Allah. If the HEAD OF THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT wants us dead, then WE SHOULD GET OUT, don't you think? I think we can't wait for either Hillary or Obama to be voted into office. We need to do it NOW. My opinion.

Thanks, Ken, for explaining, I think I'd call you a "centrist" Democrat. Not all Dems are liberal. In fact, I move from left, to center, to somewhat right on various issues. But, for President, I will vote Deocratic party, whichever one is chosen, because I don't want McCain even though he is more to the left of most of his fellow Republicans. For some reason I think he's promising liberals things that he will IMMEDIATELY take back after being elected, if enough Dems for for that to vote him in. I think he'll just continue Bush's policies but without the glee taken in continuing the war.

Many of us find ourselves on the "left" because we've been cast out of the right. We're not pro-life, pro-gun, and anti-immigrant. However, just because the far right chased us out of the Republican party doesn't mean we're comfortable in the Democratic party. People like Ferraro who use the term "sexist" so broadly make me desperately want to avoid the term "liberal." If any failure to fully embrace their terms makes me "sexist" then I'll look for the exit. If I wanted intolerance I'd hang out in the GOP.
So, the "nutty left" are those people that more moderate liberals want to avoid be associated with. However, I'd suggest that Ferraro isn't a nut because of her political leanings. She seems to be saying silly things because that's the only way she is ever heard.

It looks like Ferraro may have handed Obama a way to separate himself from the nutty left. Ultimately, the left is going to vote for Obama to express their anger against the war. The more they yap about Obama not being one of them the easier it will be for Obama to reach out to moderates.
