By the way, the title of this page is “Candorville 1/5/09: Obamarama, part 4”, but I’m pretty sure it ran on Feb 5 not Jan 5. Cheers!

It would help if I knew WHY they thought it’s a “racist cartoon.” Sometime people confuse “talking about racism” with “being racist.” Candorville deals bluntly with bigotry no matter where it comes from and no matter who it’s directed against. I don’t shy away from talking about white on black bigotry, black on black bigotry, straight on gay bigotry, American on foreigner bigotry, etc. What you could do is point them to several strips on this website that attacked bigotry. Here are some you can show the new reader:

What do you say to a new reader that doesn’t know the history of Candorville, reads it for the first time and decides that it’s a racist cartoon. I have this question from the military community in Europe and I need help with the answer.
