    What a great answer to Doonesbury’s President-as-an-Asterisk!

(cross-posted at gocomics.com) After years of Bush criticism, this was a little jarring to me. But I’m giving Darrin the benefit of the doubt, considering those years.

To be fair, Obama’s ongoing efforts to be bipartisan have little connection to reality, when faced with today’s Republican Party. The GOP is and will do everything it can to obstruct Obama’s agenda and embarrass the President. The last election didn’t hamper their partisan nature, it amplified it because moderate Republicans lost across the board. The ones who held on to their seats are the ones least likely to play nice with Obama.

It seems the critique here is going to be about the false expectation of bipartisan progress Obama keeps raising, not about making everyone’s lives better. As long as it stays that way, I think it’s valid in a way that Karl Moore and the other right-wing cartoons haven’t been.

And I have to admit, it made me laugh.
