I also read that in order to keep the peace with Republicans, Obama has to give up his pre-election promise to bring the people who did torture to trial. Also, SO MANY people in government were complicit, that if ALL THE PEOPLE who were implicated were brought to trial, there would probably be NO POLITICIANS left in Washington. Obama would be ALL ALONE up there. I do believe that AT THIS TIME, having BUSH on trial would be a distraction from the “going forward” efforts. However, at SOME time, Bush is going to have to be made accountable, as well as his advisors. I do NOT BELIEVE they acted “in good faith”. As Candorville shows, if the table were turned and it was someone in Japan who had done this to us, WE would have DEMANDED accountablility. Oh, wait a minute. Duh. We did.
