    I've always wondered how one makes an 18 parsec "run" in less than 12 parsecs. Kinda like making a 10 mile jog in 8 miles…

      The way I rationalized it way back then, Han Solo was saying the Falcon's hyperspace engine was so powerful it could warp time and space (and therefore shorten the distance) more than other ships could. It made perfect sense to a four-year-old.
