Macushla Bubbe, I LOVE your song. I can hear the tune now!

  2. Toby Bartels says:

Notice that old Lemont didn't say that the woman of young Lemont's dreams will be Sasha Mitchell!

‘If you attack you will destroy a mighty empire.’

The great aspect of Obama is not in his effectiveness but in the sociological implications of his even being elected at all! I would have been surprised if he even did ONE major thing he promised, so I'm not totally disillusioned. He was naive, however, in thinking he could get Republicans to negotiate. I think they are an immovable object.

    • Laser Plumb Bob says:

So you should be more surprised, since he absolutely has been effective against monumental odds. His focus has been more about being effective, instead of just appearing effective. It falls on us to recognize the accomplishments, and to educate our friends and neighbors, to filter out the loud, erroneous noises, one saying he can't do anything right, and the other saying he should be stopped.

Once again, I've been proven wrong. The Republicans DID go along with the Democrats in repealing the DADT in the military. If for nothing else, Obama had a GREAT victory in this area. I think that if they keep the aspect of health care that says one can't be turned down for health insurance for a pre-existing condition, that, too, will be MAJOR. I've also heard there IS going to be an end to the war in Afghanistan. If so, that, too, will be a major accomplishment. I heard Rush Limbaugh the other day still asking to see Obama's birth certificate. Can you believe this? Some people still think if he was born in Hawaii, he wasn't born in America. Duh…..
