  1. ChayaFradle says:

He also told me that if we did go in, I'd be questioned about my home life and if I was also being abused by my husband, or worse (private), and said it would all come out in court.

  2. ChayaFradle says:

In the end, my lawyer was given a job with the school district "making more money than (he) had ever seen", so he told me as we were about to go into court. He advised me to settle before even entering.

  3. ChayaFradle says:

Did I mention the union DID send me to their lawyer, but the lawyer said he only takes cases he knows he will win. Since the toxic waste issue was new at the time, he wasn't sure he could win. I had to get a private lawyer.

  4. sugarkat says:

If it weren't for the teacher's union where my mom worked, we wouldn't have had the health care coverage to pay for my open-heart surgery as a kid. Nor would my mom have kept her job when a gang leader in the inner-city school where she taught had one of his acolytes tell the school my mom hit him in order to try and get her fired. The union may have had poor leadership where you were, but it saved my life and my mom's job, and unions still do a lot of good across the country.

  5. Jeff says:

In my opinion, labor unions once serverd a vitalpurpose but what they have become today is nothing more than a self serving lobby group. They use the dues collected to pay off politicians to push their agendas and rarely do those agendas reflect the wants of the people paying the dues.
