Interestingly, bribes go from money to paper. It takes less and less each year to bribe someone into lying. Although it is of the utmost importance to connect with the Prophets, DO NOT give this man his paper!

    • Backwards says:

This is a reference to a Star Trek DS9 episode where the plot of the series was dependent on the writing of a man in an other reality. THe man's name was Benny Russel, thus the joke

      • MisTeryWriter says:

Yes, Benny Russel was an African American writer whose editor was afraid to let people know his race out of fear no one would buy his writings. " His story (about the prophets, etc) was never published and the terrible disappointment, as well as a physical assault, lead to his eventual commitment to a psychiatric hospital for treatment for a delusional breakdown. In Sisko's mind, the Pah-wraiths tried to deter him from opening the Orb of the Emissary by making him think that Sisko is Benny, writing out his actions on his room walls. Dr. Wykoff tried to have him paint over the drawing, making Sisko bury the Orb but luckily, Ezri Dax is able to remind him of his promise to Jadzia as Benny finishes the story, opening the box. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars", "Shadows and Symbols")"

      • ChayaFradle says:

OK, then. GIVE the man paper, but NOT just because he'll lie for Lemont. Not fair!!!!!! What? What.

  2. Macushla says:

This is absolutely brilliant! I LOVE it! "John Edwards" hoist on his own petard! [your depiction of him is also brilliant, worthy of a man so sleazy he gives lawyers a bad name!] I get arguments against this, but I maintain that DS-9 is the best of all the Star Treks ! Great writing and Avery Brooks' superior acting skills [and gorgeous voice!] were a big part of that. I love all of series [even <ducks & raises shields against hoots of derision> Enterprise, AND it's theme song], but DS-9 had the best & most diverse collection of REAL, classically trained actors, from Brooks [aka The Hawk! on Spenser for Hire] to Siddig el-Fadil, Colm Meany, René Auberjonois & Rosalind Chao.
I hope Benny will be on the stand a bit longer? Or is Buffy next?

This is freakin' awesome. So awesome even Roxanne's mother – Das Judge – had to see more of it! I nearly missed how he was writing his book over Edwards' clothing!

  4. Mellaril says:

Wait…If the judge is Roxanne's mother, wouldn't she sustain the objection?
