I once taught a computer class at a high school. I think it was about 1998 or 99. We hand coded the whole page. I was new to it and found it pretty boring, and the kids hated it, too. Then I learned Dreamweaver, and taught that. I thought it was pretty slick, and the kids (at the school where I am now) were still kinda "meh" about it.
WordPress, however, seems to get some love from the kids I didn't get it at all at first because I didn't have to upload anything to make it work. It freaked me out a little at first.
Thanks for a great strip. One of about three I read every morning no matter what.
Damn, it’s almost like looking myself in the mirror!
I got a job 4-5 years ago; I picked it up fresh out of uni and that was an achievement. Then I let my guard down and did not really refresh my knowledge or kept up with the new technologies. I got used to being (very) good at what I was doing until I got bored last year and started a new job for a different company. Now, 4 months later, I feel like I’m the most dumb telecoms engineer in the world and don’t even deserve my pay check!
I “blinked” for the past few years, which was too much! Or maybe I’m being too harsh on myself… either way, although employed, I still feel I’m at the rear of the train now and don’t have the skills to keep up.
I googled it. definitions:
Document Type Definition (DTD) is a set of markup declarations that define a document type for SGML-family markup languages
Terrific! So many people I have to send this to.

I'm sorry, but this comic is just so unrealistic.
I mean really, how could you forget the DTD tag?
I guess Lemont's skills are really out of date!
The WHAT tag?
< ;http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/intro/sgmltut> (wouldn't matter to blog entries, of course, since the web log would handle it automatically).
I think I'm going to stop with the geek comments. I'm just confusing too many people.
Oh, and I was trying for humor in the original DTD comment, not anal-retentive nitpicking. Failure all the way around on my part.

But hopefully my optimism will resurface soon 🙂
