  1. ChayaFradle says:

The health plan wording is the issue. It says health plans must cover "preventive services" for free (this includes mammograms, etc.). So, although the words "birth control" aren't there, some politicians are jumping on the bandwagon against preventive services, saying this is against religious freedom. Preventive services also would be screening for horrible diseases, I assume? I don't know. How about vaccinations? I also would think those fall into this category. So, if you change that aspect, no one who is poor would be able to have mammograms or vaccinations either.

I found it on Google. Today, I couldn't find the Jehovah's Witnesses one but here is the source for the Catholic church. http://articles.latimes.com/2012/mar/01/news/la-p

  3. CuriousGeorge says:

@ChayaFradle, can you please disclose your source for the statement "The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Catholic church are insisting that the NEW health plan by Obama be changed because it covers birth control" ?

  4. Jeff says:

    Darin,
I have not heard of any health plans that did not cover birth control pills in their normal prescription formulary. Is this really a big problem or are you blowing the "I want FREE birth control" debate out of proportion?

    • ChayaFradle says:

I know you asked Darrin, but I'd like to chime in. The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Catholic church are insisting that the NEW health plan by Obama be changed because it covers birth control, so Obama, with his back to the wall, had to change some of the wording so that now EMPLOYERS won't have to pay benefits for health plans which cover birth control, or some such thing. They will get to pick and choose, and the workers are out of luck.

      • Jeff says:

People mchoose where they work and who they work for. Idf you do not like the compensation package provided by your employer then change employers. The employer has the right to provide or not provide coverage for whatever they want, in mmy opinion.

        • Barb B. says:

Unfortunately, it isn't until the employment papers on the desk that the insurance info is given. To ask about benefits before an offer of employment is extended will cost one the job. In a town of less than 3,000, there isn't much to pick and chose from for employers, and there isn't money to pack up and risk being unemployed in the big city.

Lemont, Dude, I'm going to be 65 in November. Yes, you will dream of Ex-Lax. Hahaha. Great "Package" innuendo. Glad to see C-Dog again. I missed him. What about the trial? What's happening there?

    • ChayaFradle says:

I'm not the one equating it. Some politicians and religions are. That's why it's kind of funny, tongue in cheek, and comic worthy.

    • Barb B. says:

In my state, there are religions/churchs that prohibit vaccinations.
