  1. Martin says:

From the standpoint of an outsider (German) the word "killer" is very strong. I know that you would not want to use "murderer", because that would be prejudgemental. But "killer" – although correct and supported by the facts – also carries the co-notation of "serial killer" and all that. I don't know of a word in the english language that can describe a person who killed another person WITHOUT that co-notation. Does anybody? And, no, i am not defending George Zimmerman or what he did, i just need syntactical guideance…

    • ChayaFradle says:

Actually, you are correct in a way; however, the word "killer" also expands to such things as a heart attack being a killer, etc. By killing someone's ideas, you are an idea killer. The word "murderer" contains a more stern connotation. " murderer – a criminal who commits homicide (who performs the unlawful premeditated killing of another human being)". In this case, the killer will be tried for a lesser count of murder, I think. It all depends on his state of mind. I read on one account that he was tired of people getting away with crime, so he already had the mindset of wanting to do it himself (be a vigilante). We'll see what the courts do with this.

Thanks for your touching messages in your strips. And unfortunately, the gen. public is not being informed that the "stand your ground" law does not apply to this case b/c of the victim's age. Not many people have the time, energy or concern to research the law & whether or not it's been followed. Hopefully, this fact and the fact that Trayvon called 911 right before his death will come out b/c they are these are key game changing pieces of information.

    • ChayaFradle says:

I think Candorville's Fear, Incorporated building has expanded itself, to my dismay.

    • Brady D. Jackson III says:

Loma, WHAT??!! 911 call??! …by Travon? I've never heard of this! I know that Zimm. called 911 but not Travon. In fact, I thought he was on the phone to his girlfriend at the time of the shooting…. so where is this bit of info of yours coming from??? -3

  3. Opus the Poet says:

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but are you familiar with the concept of the Psychopomp? The deliverer of the souls of the dead to the underworld. You have Lemont acting as a psychopomp in his dreams. And this is the first time i have ever been able to use the word "psychopomp" in an actual conversation, every other time I was able to use it it was in a story along the same lines as that M. Night Shamalan movie with the kid that saw dead people.

    • Darrin Bell says:

The Psychopomp is one of my favorite literary devices. It also makes for great TV. "Dead Like Me" was one of the best shows I've seen in a while.

Thank you for helping me clarify in my mind why I knew this killing was so wrong.I'm 62,female,and white.I've never really had to deal with prejudice like this.Sometimes the fear of being a woman out at night by herself, but not every day harassment.Thank you so much for your strip.I love it.

  5. Sam says:

Love the last frame all by itself.

    • Zirconia Wolf says:

Ditto. That last frame is what makes me so sick about this whole thing- and really glad that I don't live in Florida!
