   A few moments of research would have revealed that "so long" probably comes from the celtic "se lange", meaning good health or, say, be well. No wonder she beat you up. Guess you're running out of valid things to criticize.

       Huh? For whatever it's worth, I'm not a conservative. And I certainly didn't think there was anything political about my comment. (Did you perhaps misread "literal-minded" as "liberal-minded"? I can't think how else you might have mistaken my intent.)
