My iMac 2002 model died in a power outage just like in Candorville. I've been told that it is the on-off switch that is bad. I love this iMac. Does anyone know if it can be fixed and by whom?

As an engineer, I've noticed that almost all engineers use PCs, running Windows, they are "Industry standard" which means more compatibility, & plenty of freeware … Macs seem to be overpriced & strictly for art or personal use ….

I have a 10.5.8 MAC, and it is about three generations too old. Many of the programs I had for free started saying to upgrade, but I checked it out, and it way too expensive. I am stuck with just blogging, facebook, and Google searches. My i-photo doesn't work the same any longer. I can't put pictures into folders any more, etc. The other day, my modem started goofing up, and I found out they were only guaranteed for a year. To replace it will cost about $70 when it finally dies! I love how large this MAC screen thing is, and love the ease of it without those big tower yucky things.

I have one of those iMacs and its value to me is precisely that it won't take the latest OS. If it did, I would have no doubt upgraded and there wouldn't be a computer in my house that can run my HP Scanjet 4670 vertical scanner. The most beautiful and versatile scanner that HP ever made, and they stopped updating the Mac driver with OS 10.7.

Fortunately, this iMac is stuck at 10.4 so with the new wifi card and Dropbox, It does what I need it to do. Hopefully it won't die on me anytime soon, but I don't use it for anything but the scanner.

I, too, own that iMac. It is the most beautiful computer and I hate that I am going to have to get a new one so I can use current software…I hate the idea. I love that I can turn the screen to show others photos. I wish I could upgrade it.

It's possible that you could, but it would probably cost a lot of $$$. There's usually someone in any big city who could tear out the insides of an old computer and replace them with newer components; you just have to find them.

If you really had Obama figured out, you'd admit that he's very similar to his predecessor.
