Love the double take/pause in panel 5.

  2. Robert says:

Pedant point – I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Ho-Tei, the Taoist god of luck and good fortune. He's the one with the big goofy smile, sometimes standing with arms stretched overhead.
The salt throwing dates from the times when salt was incredibly expensive – if you spilled some, the idea was an Evil Spirit was hexing you, so you'd throw it over your left shoulder (where the Evil Spirit was lurking) to drive it away. I know this because my husband got me "Salt – A World History" by Mark Kurlansky (450 pages paperback, _all about salt__). Geek and Proud, that's me.

  3. Melissa says:

    Mmmmm….Buddha’s belly….I miss that place.

Next time you're in LA, we'll go there. Almost went there yesterday, but it just wouldn't have been the same without you freaking out that I'm using my cell phone at the same time you're using yours.

  4. Ken says:

I have to say how happy I am that Darrin did not try to illustrate the nuzzling of the Buddha belly.

  5. PeaceZGood says:

    🙂

  6. Bearman says:

Darrin…you have some explaining to do ha ha. I have rubbed buddhas belly but I have never nor have I seen someone NUZZLE it.

  7. Nate Fakes says:

Worked that time. I usually just toss salt on fries – not for luck, but taste!

  8. Bartimaeus says:

    Wait, we WHAT?
