Candorville: 9/7/08- Nations Invading Nations

TRANSCRIPT: The hot topic on today’s SUNDAY MORNING POLITICAL SHOW: are military invasions justifiable? Here to discuss this: Senator John McCain. Thanks, Tom. Let’s take last month for instance. Russia claimed Georgia’s regime was brutal and dangerous, so they invaded. That was wrong. “IN THE 21ST CENTURY, NATIONS DON’T INVADE OTHER NATIONS.” Our next guest: John McCain from a few moments earlier. Hello, Tom. When you’ve got a brutal and dangerous regime, invasions (Like what we did in Iraq) are perfectly ok. Tom, me from a moment ago is a reckless warmonger, who deserves our scorn. Bob, me from right now is hopefully naive.

  1. Golux says:

Meh, the usual "It's OK to flip-flop if my guy's the one doing it, how dare you point it out".

  2. PeaceZGood says:

If, if, and if. Hypocrisy is as hypocrisy does. And it has been done, and is being done, and will continue to be done if McCain is in office. I love Darrin’s response. And what about the cartoon is not true? Duh!!!!!!!!

  3. Darrin Bell says:

That’s absurd. This comic strip has absolutely nothing to do with race. And I wasn’t aware the morning Post was accompanied by henchmen who force people at gunpoint to read Candorville. I’ll write to the Post and ask them to allow readers to not read the comics they don’t like. No promises, though.

  4. filosfer2 says:

Hold on a sec. i understand the meaning of this but…… If this were a white guy in the strip and the indecision was over obamas policy, it could very easily be construed as racism. But why is it a black guy, confused by the sayings of McCain, not seen in the same sense? This is not a comic i wanna see inside the front page of my Washington Post. I want non-biased comics not something that infuriates me when i am lookin for a little chuckle in my morning. This is a blatant bias against McCain!!!!

  5. PeaceZGood says:

If strength is defined as being able to fool most of the people most of the time, then yes.. Foreign policy is McCain’s strength. Also, the term “foreign policy” is very apt. Policy about how to have peace is FOREIGN to McCain.

  6. Ken says:

And foreign policy is supposed to be McCain’s strength.
