I was thinking that he'd never actually be seen with Vancouver - so much of the strip depends on him being what TVTropes would call a Butt Monkey that his happiness might derail things.
Still hoping that nothing dreadful happens. I'm thinking of Cory Thomas's "Watch Your Head" and the character January.
What happened with the character January?
She died offstage, in a tragic, possibly violent, incident that was never explained.
It was uncharacteristically grim.
IIRC, I think the January character was a stand-in for Thomas's RL significant other, who had passed away. Tragic situation.
Oh man... there goes next week's storyline. I'll have to think of something else.
