While I grant that "That would be I" sounds stilted, "That would be me" is ungrammatical, as a predicate nominative can't be in the objective case, can it? There is no object of any kind in that sentence.
French allows "c'est moi", but this ain't French.
Maybe Dr. Spock will visit the Sanitarium.
Tragedy. Poor Mom.Does Lemont ever pick up when she calls? I haven't read that in the strip. Wonder what she thinks of Crazy Chick.
