  • "Angry black man" is a tag that dismisses every argument and opinion of the person so tagged, like calling a woman a "bitch" takes away all of the power and import of her opinion. It's a label that takes away power, equality, ability to do anything. This is something FDR never had to deal with, and it's something President Obama is very aware of.

Though I still wish he'd show more testicular fortitude.

  • Obama doesn't have to BE an "Angry Black Man". Simply being an angry progressive would have been enough.

Had he actually governed as a progressive rather than a timid conservative Democrat, he might have avoided his current fate.

In fact, Obama had an even bigger majority of Democrats than FDR did before 2010...and yet he still pursued a more conservative course.

    • It is possible he may have been physically harmed. Look what happened to JFK. He was strongly progressive. Do you think that may have brought the snakes out from under their rocks?

  • FDR was often bipartisan when he spoke to the nation. You can find speeches where he used partisan rhetoric, but you could say the same for Obama.

Also, FDR had a Democratic Congress. He didn't have as much need to reach across the aisle to get his policies approved. He just had to keep the conservative Democrats in line.

And, FDR was white (although some conservatives accused him of being a "secret Jew.")

  • This is why I can see WHY Lemont is friends with C-Dog. Clyde often comes up with really deep understanding of life's conundrums. What do YOU all think we should do about Obama in the next election? The problem is that if we get another Democrat who is more FIRMLY Democratic platform, we may lose in the election. Winning, although nauseating in philosophy, is a practical concern.

  • lol. Interesting hook to the comic. Lemont doesn't respond back with anything, affirmative or negative, right away. He just takes a moment to think about it. Excellent. It's what we should be doing in this political age. Hold back the retort for a moment and just think about what was said.
