I meant it hits close to home that the only snowball's chance for jobs with benefits & capable of supporting my 2 kids seem to be for thos who speak [& more importantly, practice] fluent geek [or, "must be able to lift 50 lbs/stand for long periods/travel, etc."]

Definitely. I was only last week in communication with someone on transferring his PDF mathematics papers to EPUB format (it won't be easy, EPUB only recently started supporting the math encoding needed to do the job).
