  • Actually, this IS the premise of most religions. The big guy in the sky who created us to have free will, yet there is also predestination. That is why I am very turned off to most organized religions, and only attend services sometimes, when I need to "connect" with the people. Hopefully, I will hear a positive message, but it does not always happen, and then I am disappointed. I wish there would be a religion called, "Positive Thoughts and Methods of De-Stressing from Life".

  • Besides movies like "Dark City" and "The Matrix", this theme has been explored by SF authors at least since the sixties in books like "Simulacron 3" by Daniel F. Galouye, and stories like "The Tunnel Under the World" by Frederick Pohl.

I think that the 1999 thriller, "The Thirteenth Floor" is also loosely based on "Simulacron 3".

This message brought to by your resident SF literary critic --- I KNEW that masters degree in Comparative Literature would come in handy some day. ;-)

    • Suburban, I am amazed at your intelligence. I didn't even realize this strip was based in SF theory. ⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗⚗
