Even if one of or both Lemont and Susan secretly wish their platonic relationship would turn romantic [to the extent that, shh, fictional characters can 'wish' anything...], and even we in real life wished they *would* get together already, the problem for the storyteller(s) is, then what? TV shows tease viewers with these tensions all the time & if they last long enough, the writers [& fans] think THEIR show will be the one that can pull it off. But, there are SO many reasons NOT to give in: Lois & Clark, Niles & Daphne, Ross & Rachel, Kono & Adam, Dax & Worf, Troi & Riker, T'Pol & Trip, Bones & Booth, Cameron & Chase, Jack & Samantha, Grissom & Sara, Mulder & Scully and most especially, House & Cuddy! Yeah, I wanted all but that last match-up to happen [while my sons & male friends gagged -- "What is this, high school?"], but have to admit that the shows were not the same afterward & some became downright cringe-worthy [cough, House, cough].
Lemont wants to be a present tense friend. Makes sense to me.
It is time to get on with Lamont and Susan. I am getting bored. the last comic strip that never could get going, I quit reading. This relationship could be a lot of fun.
I'll never understand why people think a platonic friendship between a man and a woman has to either lead to romance or it's not worth following. Nobody ever says they'll quit reading if Lemont doesn't hook up with Clyde.
Exactly.
Well now we *must* meet this Turbo.
He's got a messed up way of saying he want's to be in her life forever
