Just wanted you to know I've been deeply touched by your tribute to Robin Williams--especially the last two days with the personification of depression, and most especially today. "I'll just go sleep on the couches of those he loved." True, so true. A beautiful, sad tribute--and I love your concept of the A train to the afterlife.
Thanks for your moving Robin Williams tribute series. As someone who has battled depression all my adult life, I especially appreciated the personification of the "demon." I wish it were so easy to separate it from oneself - it might be easier to live with.

It seems a useful way to think of depression--as a demon outside of ourselves, telling us lies and half-truths slanted in a negative way. I'm going to start to look at it that way.

Yes, yes he did crash there for a while until I started thinking of all the joy and laughter he brought into this world. Thinking that the ancient oak must give way to make room for the acorns and sproutlings.
