Math class was hell. To me, math was always like a foreign language spoken backward. I have no idea how I made it through AP Calculus, but it must’ve involved me selling something to a guy named Legba.

    I did that in the rest home with Bingo. Usually, they were letting everyone win, but one day they said they were going to change the game and only one person would win, and I refused to play. I said first, if I lost, I'd be sad, and second, if I won, I'd be sad because others would be sad. I said no old people should have to think of themselves as being a loser.
