"Infused racism". Whoa. Interesting terminology to describe what we just saw. I'm so glad you add these fascinating videos to your site! Thank you.

Amazingly sad & frustrating video…but I feel compelled to point out that it wasn't just the people walking by that exhibited racists reactions, it was also the producers of the video itself. Why do I say this? Because the man who believed the "lost key" story & helped the black actor free the bike was instantly assumed (by the makers of the video) to be afraid of "challenging" the young man for fear of being labeled a "racist." Why? The young man hardly appeared/acted like a "gang-banger" & for all we know something similar had once happened to the man who helped him. I have to wonder if the same thing had happened with the white actor if the video producers would have made the same snap assumption? Also note that (even though it took too damn long!) eventually some people DID confront the white actor…and they were an older couple that many would assume might be MORE likely to have been willing to assume the best of intentions form the white actor. So despite the depressing black cloud the video most definitely shows, there IS a little silver lining peaking through. Now all we need to do is find a way to make it bigger!

That's so fucking depressing, and yet not at all surprising. Good thing America's living in a post-racial world now. Pfft.
